START A SKATE CLUB

Start A Skate Club For NGOs and Councils

Are you a local government or an NGO seeking to get more people active and participating in non-competitive physical activity?

If yes, the YMCA can support you to activate your Skate Parks, up-skill local leaders, and implement the necessary systems and programs that will:

  • Engage young people in alternative sport and recreational activities, increasing opportunities for connectedness through common interests and physical activity.
  • Provide long term activation of public skate facilities, support the local economy through the implementation of a scalable and sustainable management model of a public space.
  • Develop local ‘community leaders’ by providing locally based career pathways.
  • Support the provision of safe places where young people feel a sense of belonging and pride.

The YMCA will work with you to set up and deliver the Skate Club project, this includes the implementation of a business structure, strategy and support systems that empower local community champions to build a social enterprise at your Skate Park.

The YMCA can find, train and/.or supply qualified skate coaches in your area. Coaches will have police checks, working with Children’s check, Covid Safety training as well as training in how to teach skateboarding skills.

We will liaise with the councils to obtain permission to run skate lessons in your local skatepark park.

Commitment to participate in a program of a minimum of 5 day for a school holiday program or 10 weeks for a school term program.

Cost depend on the number of participants but start at $25 per child for 10 children minimum.

Our goal is to make skateboarding accessible to as many people as possible so the more participants the cheaper the program can be.
