Skate Club Operating Procedures

The aim of skate club is to create a fun environment for kids to regularly learn new skills, meet other kids from the skatepark and build the skateboarding community.

Skate Club should be promoted via posters, social media & school skate clinics.

Skate Coaches should promote Skate Club within their own network and at the skatepark especially to kids that are new to skateboarding and kids accompanied by parents.

Skate Club needs a minimum of 6 paying skaters per session for the program to be self sustaining.
If as a Level 1 Skate Coach and trained Skate Club trained coach you can get 6 or more kids together, we can set up a skatepark skate club system for you.

To attend Skate Club, parents/guardians must register their children via the Skate Club website. https://skateclub.ymca.org.au/

Role of the Program Leader

• The program leader is responsible for the smooth running of the Skate Club at that skatepark.
• They must ensure that there are enough trained coaches to run the program and that the roster is filled in for each week.
• If someone is unable to make a shift, the program leader needs to find a replacement.
• In the event that a replacement cannot be found, the program leader must contact the parents of each child booked in for that session as quickly as possible to organise a replacement session.
• If a session is rained out, send a text message to registered participants and organise a replacement session.

Role of the Program Officer

• The program officer is there to support the program leader. They should
• Help set up and pack down
• Help kids and parent sign up with the system
• Complete the pre safety audit if requested by program leader
• Assist with Covid procedures – disinfect kids hands and the boards.
• Ensure kids has helmets on.
• Assist with class as directed my program leader
• They should update the skaters personal progression plans.

SkateClub Kit

  • first aid kit,
  • boards
  • charged tablets
  • Flag or A frame signage,
  • tables if applicable
